Joao Felix, who recently joined Chelsea, is ‘unbelievable’ in training, according to Cesar Azpilicueta, who also says he was astonished Atletico Madrid agreed to loan him to the Premier League team.
Felix, a forward from Portugal, left La Liga team Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window and will now spend the remainder of the year on loan at Chelsea.
The 23-year-old has had an uneven start to his Blues career, getting sent off on his league debut in a 2-1 loss to Fulham and then scoring in his first match after serving a suspension on Saturday in a draw with West Ham.
The loanee will have a “huge impact” on the club for the remainder of the season, according to Chelsea captain Azpilicueta, who calls Felix “wonderful” on the practice field.
Prior to Chelsea’s Champions League last-16 first-leg match against Borussia Dortmund, Azpilicueta was asked if Felix is a “unique talent,” and he responded, “Yes, he is.”
I was familiar with him from our games versus Atletico Madrid and from watching their La Liga matches.
“Since we are aware of his qualities, I was pretty shocked when he appeared.” He’s incredible in practice, and in the most recent game against West Ham, he displayed how well he can turn, open up space, and play passes.
“He has been outstanding and genuinely extremely good at training.” He also scored the other day, which will boost his confidence.
He is a young man with a wealth of knowledge and self-assurance who is already having a significant impact on the squad.
“I am excited to see him in the team and excelling at this level,” the speaker said.
The Blues owner Todd Boehly spent about £600 million on transfers over the last two transfer windows, and Felix is one of many new Chelsea players.
The January transfer market has been a little busier than usual, but as part of my job, I strive to make the new players fit in with the team as soon as possible. Addition by Azpilicueta.
“In football, you occasionally don’t have a lot of time to start your trip in a new club, nation, or language.”
In order for them to express themselves and demonstrate their talent, as some of the guys have already done, I’ve been working to assist integrate them into the squad as quickly as I can. I anticipate some great days in the future.
Graham Potter’s poor play has caused Chelsea to drop to 10th position in the Premier League, 10 points outside of the Champions League spots, and 20 points behind league-leading Arsenal.
Dortmund has won all six of its games this season in the Bundesliga, helping them move up to third place in the standings.
