Liverpool reveals starting lineup with two changes for Man City showdown
For today’s match at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City, Jürgen Klopp has selected his Liverpool team.
The Reds manager makes two changes to his team from the 1-0 defeat at Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League last-16.
Despite missing the match at the Santiago Bernabeu due to illness, captain Jordan Henderson is in the middle of the pitch.
Darwin Nunez, however, is not healthy enough to begin. The forward only makes the bench after pulling out of Uruguay’s international duties due to a cut ankle. Mo Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota will now play in attack, with Harvey Elliott moving into the middle of the pitch.
Although having returned to training earlier this week, Luis Diaz is not taking part. Given that he has been out injured for nearly six months, Liverpool is taking a careful approach to his conditioning.
Liverpool’s starting lineup includes Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinh, Henderson, Elliott, Salah, Gakpo, and Jota.
Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Matip Tsimikas, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arthur, Nunez, and Firmino.
