Prior to Monday’s match against Leicester City (8 p.m. kickoff), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided an update on his team.
In an effort to bounce back from their sizable loss to Fulham, Dean Smith’s team will face a challenging test against the Foxes at the King Power Stadium. After falling short last weekend, City now finds itself two points out of a playoff spot and must overcome Liverpool in their upcoming game.
After six straight victories, Jurgen Klopp’s team is one point behind the top four and still vying for a Champions League spot. The Liverpool manager has acknowledged that he will be without a number of players for their trip to Leicester, though.
Forward It’s a race to get back to full fitness for Roberto Firmino before he says goodbye to the Reds this summer. He has missed the club’s last five games. The midfielder Naby Keita, who has been injured since February, is also scheduled to leave Anfield.
When asked about the pair in his pre-game press conference, Klopp responded: “No, (Firmino) is not yet in team training. Bobby looked almost ready when he was in training on Thursday, but not quite in time for the weekend. He starts team training after the Leicester game, so if he shows up for the practise today, I’d be surprised. Naby Keita, no.
While Thiago Alcantara is recovering from hip surgery, young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic announced on social media in March that he will miss the rest of the season due to an injury. Since February, Calvin Ramsay has been out with a knee issue, and his anticipated comeback is in the preseason.
