One Napoli player who wants to come to the Premier League has given Manchester United hope that they may finalise a deal for him.
The southern Italian team just triumphed in their first Scudetto in more than 30 years, cruising to the Serie A title in style. Many members of this new Napoli team, though, have attracted interest from suitors across Europe, notably Manchester United.
In fact, two Napoli stars are on their way to Manchester United as manager Erik ten Hag attempts to restructure a team that has struggled of late in its quest to crack the top four.
Defender Kim Min-jae has reportedly already agreed to his transfer to the 20-time English league champions, with only a few minor issues left to work out, according to Naples-based publication Il Mattino(opens in new tab).
Additionally, according to Il Mattino(opens in new tab), United are the front-runners to sign Victor Osimhen, Kim’s Napoli teammate, who is desired by a number of clubs after an outstanding season. However, there are conflicting rumours on Osimhen’s availability, with Football Insider(opens in new tab)most recently asserting that the hunt for the striker is over due to Napoli’s high demands.
But according to Tuttomercatoweb(opens in new tab), United are willing to outbid their competitors by spending an additional €3 million to capture Kim. Ten Hag is anxious to prevent a similar occurrence this time around after United abandoned the majority of their business late last summer.
In addition to the South Korean, United may also acquire a second centre back. Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof’s departures from Old Trafford this summer are reportedly both on the rumour mill. In Lisandro Martinez’s recent absence, Luke Shaw stepped in as center-back, leaving United’s defensive depth lacking.
Axel Disasi of Monaco and the Red Devils have also been connected.
