Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Nathan Ake will require caution from Manchester City.
The Dutchman is presently believed to be City’s sole significant injury concern as the club enters a historic two weeks.
In the first two weeks of June, after winning the Premier League, Guardiola’s team faces Manchester United and Inter Milan in the FA Cup and Champions League finals, respectively.
Ake has established himself as a crucial player at the Etihad Stadium despite attention from his old team Chelsea in the summer.
After departing from the 4-3-3 formation he had used for the majority of his career, Guardiola stressed the need to have a “proper defender” in his backline.
The 28-year-old has played in 38 games this season across all competitions, but recently has been dealing with a hamstring issue.
Guardiola said that the defender will probably be rested until the travels to Wembley and Istanbul because there wasn’t much left to play for in the Premier League.
“He is improving. He is nearing the end of his rehabilitation, according to the City manager.
“After getting hurt a second time, we must exercise caution. In the event that United or Inter require him.
