Prior to the forthcoming summer transfer window, Manchester City is reportedly monitoring the scenario surrounding Kim Min-jae, a defender for Napoli.
There are currently a good number of centre backs in Pep Guardiola’s team, but he might try to add another one during the summer transfer window.
City is pursuing Kim
According to a recent report from 90 Min, City is one of the clubs monitoring Kim’s situation at Napoli, who are trying to offer him a new contract but may be open to paying up to €60 million (£52 million) for the defender this summer. City might make a play for him.
The report also adds that the South Korean has a lot of admirers from the Premier League and abroad, with Manchester United being one of the more eager clubs to sign him
The 26-year-old has made more clearances (122) and has the highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (95) of any defender in the team during the course of his 34 appearances for Napoli during their Serie A-winning campaign.
This statement by Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti regarding the center-half from back in March serves to further emphasise how highly talented he is.
“Kim does at least 20 amazing things per game,” he remarked. He can get the ball into the opposing penalty area when he starts the run with the ball at his feet in under five seconds.
With all of that in mind, it is clear why Napoli wants to hang onto their star defender and why the majority of Europe is attempting to buy him.
In the future, landing a move for Kim could be the ideal method for Pep Guardiola to bolster his defence for the upcoming season, even though it would be challenging given the amount of interest in him.
