According to Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports, Liverpool is anticipated to make a move for Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton & Hove Albion this summer at Anfield.
This summer, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds team will undergo a midfield reconstruction.
Alexis Mac Allister is a recent addition to Liverpool.
Mac Allister’s father, who serves as his agent, will reportedly come from Argentina in the coming weeks to negotiate his move to Liverpool, according to TYC Sports journalist Cesar Luis Merlo,
Fabrizio Romano , a transfer expert, has stated that insiders anticipate the 24-year-old to decide on his future by the end of the following week and that personal terms with the Anfield team are almost complete.
The Seagulls are preparing for interest in Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo this summer and believe Brighton has placed a price tag of over £70 million on his head.
The Reds are in advanced negotiations over a deal for the South American, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, who previously told GIVEMESPORT that Klopp is looking to expand his options in the middle of the park.
Sheth also thinks there is “potential” for a deal if Allister shows he wants to transfer to Liverpool right away.
What has Sheth said about Mac Allister and Liverpool?
Sheth stated to GIVEMESPORT that “Brighton’s argument to Alexis Mac Allister would be, ‘You’re going to play in the same competition [Europa League], why don’t you give us another season?'”
However, if Liverpool pursues him, as we anticipate they will, meets Brighton’s asking price, and Mac Allister declares, “Look, I want to make that move now,” then a deal may materialize.
Would Liverpool be wise to bring in Mac Allister?
If Liverpool is unsuccessful in their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, Mac Allister might be a strong backup plan for the England star.
The Argentinean international, who has 16 caps, has had a more successful season than the Blues player, scoring 12 goals and dishing out three assists in 40 games.
Mount has only registered nine goal contributions, hinting he may not be as effective in the final third as his Brighton counterpart.
And with Manchester United looking to steal a march on the signature of Mount, Klopp may feel the club’s time is better used securing Mac Allister’s services at Anfield as the Reds look to replace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Arthur Melo.
Liverpool will therefore be hoping that a Mac Allister signing can be completed soon as they try to make the first of several needed signings this summer.
