After the upcoming Champions League final, Bernardo Silva reportedly decided he would like to leave Manchester City.
The 28-year-old made the decision to stay with Pep Guardiola’s team despite last summer’s rumours that he would leave the Etihad Stadium.
The midfielder’s departure from the Manchester club has been rumoured once more recently, though.
Silva plans to leave City
According to Alex Crook, the journalist said this about the circumstance in a recent article for talkSPORT.
Bernardo Silva is getting ready for Saturday’s Champions League final to be his final outing in a Manchester City uniform, he revealed.
Silva has informed friends that he plans to quit the Etihad this summer in pursuit of a new challenge, according to talkSPORT sources.
“Barcelona sought the Portuguese wizard last summer, but the Spanish powerhouses were unable to raise the money to meet City’s £70 million value.
Both French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona continue to be interested in signing Silva.
The Portuguese international has made 305 appearances for the club in all competitions since signing in the 2017 summer transfer window in a move rumoured to have cost £43 million.
Silva has made those appearances, during which time he has scored 55 goals, given 59 assists, and won many awards, including five Premier League championships.
The 28-year-old has played in every game City has played this season, with the exception of six, and has done so in a number of different positions, underscoring his importance and value to the team.
It also demonstrates how devastating it would be for the Citizens if the midfielder decided to leave the team this summer in pursuit of a different challenge.
Therefore, regardless of the outcome of Saturday’s Champions League final against Inter Milan, we believe that City should do everything they can behind the scenes to persuade Silva to remain where he is and continue his career with the club.
