According to sources, Arsenal is one among the teams “leading the charge” to sign Moises Caicedo, a star for Brighton and Ecuador, this summer.
Arsenal may sign a few people this summer.
With the domestic transfer market now open for business, Mikel Arteta and co. face a crucial summer after failing to win their first Premier League championship in nearly 20 years.
The north Londoners are thought to be making strengthening their center-midfield a top priority. They have their eyes on Declan Rice of West Ham and are reportedly getting close to a deal.
Despite rumours to the contrary, indications indicate that Arsenal is still seriously interested in both Caicedo and Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan in addition to the England international.
In recent weeks, City’s Joao Cancelo, Galtasary’s Sacha Boey, and Real Valladolid teenager Ivan Fresneda have all been widely linked to the Gunners as potential full-back recruits.
Regarding Caicedo, who plays center midfield, Football Insider has provided an update on their chase. They suggest that Arsenal is one of the top candidates to sign him.
In fact, it’s said that Arsenal and Chelsea are “leading the charge” for Brighton’s crucial midfielder despite interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
But with the Blues making contact, Arteta’s team might need to move swiftly. According to reports, Brighton is asking for roughly £70 million, with a further £10 million in add-ons, to let him leave this window.
Caicedo, who made 43 appearances for the Seagulls last season in all competitions, has long been a favourite of Arsenal.
Moises Caicedo: Who is he?
The 21-year-old has been outstanding for Brighton at the club level, recording more tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes than any other member of their team nationally during the course of 2022/2023 (WhoScored).
In addition, Caicedo has excelled for Ecuador internationally, starting all three of his country’s World Cup games in Qatar last year and even contributing a goal in a career-defining performance (WhoScored).
The defensive midfield enforcer was referred to as a “star” for his country by journalist Roberto Rojas in a tweet, and Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi also praised him highly.
“Caicedo for me could become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and in Europe,” said De Zerbi last October.
“Caicedo is a top player with and without the ball.
“There are many players who are very good with the ball but without it in defensive spaces are not so good. With Caicedo, I don’t see anything not at the top level.”
