Despite talks of a transfer to Manchester United, Denzel Dumfries stated that he is content at Inter Milan and has no motive to leave the Italian team, but he did acknowledge that “players come and go.”
The international from the Netherlands has been suggested as a right-back target for United manager Erik ten Hag. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot are the Reds’ current options in that position.
The 27-year-old played 51 times for Inter during the just-completed season, which resulted in a loss to Manchester City in the Champions League final.
Dumfries joins the San Siro from Dutch team PSV Eindhoven in 2021, and his contract there has two years yet to run. Therefore, Inter is not under any urgent pressure to sell the Dutch player.
Dumfries previously acknowledged that despite this summer’s Champions League setback, he is not considering quitting Inter. Dumfries responded to new inquiries on the matter by reiterating his satisfaction with the Nerazzurri while acknowledging the “very dynamic” nature of today’s game, which involves players coming and going, and his advice that spectators “wait and see what happens.”
I’m incredibly happy to play for this squad, Dumfries stated when representing the Netherlands internationally. The past two years have been amazing, and every time I drive to Appiano [Inter’s practise facility], I feel extremely proud.
But today’s football is extremely dynamic. A player may change. There is no reason for me to go. I cherish Inter. But as I’ve already stated, you must wait and watch what transpires. But I’m thrilled to be playing for Inter.
