According to Sky Sports writer Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea are in “contact and talks” contemplating a deal to bring Gabri Veiga to the Premier League.
Gabri Veiga’s talent level?
Veiga is a central midfielder who presently competes for Celta Vigo in La Liga after rising through the organization’s various youth categories and completing its academy. He has now made 55 senior appearances and is a regular member of the first team.
The Spaniard still has three years left on his Balaidos Stadium contract, but after becoming his country’s second-best attacking performer last season, Mauricio Pochettino has identified him as a prime transfer target.
The Blues are one of several teams that have “shown interest” in the 21-year-old, according to dependable reporter Rudy Galetti who also said later that a bid “could arrive soon.” However, if the following update is to be believed, the two parties may already be discussing a move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea plans to buy Veiga.
Plettenberg said on Twitter that Chelsea and Celta Vigo are presently negotiating a transfer ahead of the 2023–24 season. He stated:
“Gabri Veiga is now prepared to take the next step. He’ll go from Celta Vigo. His management is looking at a variety of choices because he has the potential to develop into a top centre midfielder. Talks and communication with CFC and others. Release clause of around €40 million (£34 million) has been confirmed. Bayern is not a party.
Should Boehly make a bid for Veiga?
Veiga has already begun to demonstrate his abilities on the biggest stage, and while Chelsea will be aware that his young age makes him more of an investment for the club’s long-term future, Todd Boehly should definitely think about submitting an offer to secure his services.
In 36 La Liga appearances last season, the Gol International client—the same agency that Christopher Nkunku uses—contributed 15 goals (11 goals and four assists). His performance earned him three man-of-the-match awards, but the central midfielder was also a danger even when the ball wasn’t in the net.
According to FBRef, the Spain U21s starlet averaged 3.14 shot-creating actions per league game, which was the second-highest amount in his team. As a result, he’s constantly trying to create special moments for his teammates.
If Veiga were to sign a contract, it would be a huge victory for Pochettino because journalist Fabrizio Romano has praised him as a “electric” player for his youthful pace and vivacious character.
