Chelsea are set to launch an improved second bid to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer, according to reports.
Brighton turned down Chelsea’s original bid of £60 million, but the Blues are reportedly close to reaching a personal terms agreement with the midfielder.
According to the Daily Mail, the Seagulls want Chelsea to pay whatever Declan Rice sells for this summer, which is expected to be about £100 million. However, it’s claimed that £80 million would be enough to persuade them as the Blues get ready to make their second bid for the player.
According to reports, Caicedo has chosen to join Chelsea, and ‘final discussions’ are currently taking place as Chelsea and Brighton try to reach an agreement on a transfer fee.
The Ecuadorian international performed admirably for Brighton last season as they earned a remarkable sixth-place finish in the Premier League and advanced to the Europa League.
Arsenal and Manchester United will definitely suffer if Chelsea moves closer to acquiring Caicedo.
Arsenal came close to acquiring Caicedo in January and again this summer, but they decided to drop out of the running in favor of a pursuit of Declan Rice.
Arsenal might now miss out on both players because Manchester City is growing more confident in their ability to sign Rice.
United, on the other hand, hoped to join the Caicedo race in case a deal for Mason Mount fell through.
The Red Devils have set a deadline for the deal to sign Mount to be completed after they saw two bids rejected.
