As Erik ten Hag looks to improve his attacking options, Manchester United is considering making a move to recruit teenage striker Adama Bojang this summer.
How is Adama Bojang’s transfer to Manchester United going?
Manchester United is one of the clubs currently displaying interest in Gambia prospect Adama Bojang, according to Fabrizio Romano, who updated his followers on Twitter about the 19-year-old’s situation.
“Understand that RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt are working hard to complete a deal for Bojang, who is regarded as a huge talent.”
Although United had a third offer for the Chelsea player rejected, Ten Hag is also keeping an eye on Mason Mount this summer, and a deal may be reached soon.
At Manchester United, might Adama Bojang take Anthony Martial’s place?
In preparation for the upcoming campaign, the Dutchman should priorities improving United’s attacking options, especially in light of the fact that only two teams in the top half of the standings scored fewer goals than them in 2022–23, which may have prevented them from mounting a sustained Premier League title challenge. In total, 58 goals were scored by the Red Devils, 36 fewer than champions Manchester City.
Martial has just six league goals, and statistics showing that he was second in missed good chances (eight) and only sixth in shots per game (1.3) suggest that he was not particularly efficient in front of goal.
With only a year left on his £250,000 per week contract, he faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford. Ten Hag may have to sell him this summer for a bargain price to get him off the payroll, though a lot will depend on whether he can recruit another top-tier forward.
Bojang isn’t quite in the same level as targets like Rasmus Hojlund and Victor Osimhen, but because of his fierce playing style and speedy 6 foot 3 height, the young prodigy has earned the moniker “Gambian Hurricane.”
He currently plays for Steve Biko FC in Gambia, but his best performances have come on the international stage, where he scored six goals in just eight games for the Gambia U20 team. He also proved his pedigree by scoring a stunning hat-trick against Sudan in the U20 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals.
He furthered his developing reputation by scoring twice in four U20 World Cup games. Antonio Mango, a U23 scout, recently praised him as having “insane talent,” adding that he may be a great addition for Ten Hag.
There is no reason why he can’t beat Martial at the Old Trafford team given his potential, which shows he might be successful in England if he fits in well.
