Tottenham Hotspur is interested in acquiring Aymeric Laporte from Premier League opponent Manchester City during the summer transfer season, according to The Mirror.
The Spanish international defender is available for sale by City, who last season won the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League.
The 29-year-old center-back, who earns £130,000 per week (SalarySport), is valued by the Citizens at £60 million.
Could Tottenham Hotspur acquire Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte?
Aymeric Laporte may be difficult for Tottenham Hotspur to acquire from Manchester City during the summer transfer window, in our opinion.
In spite of City’s potential willingness to trade the 29-year-old this summer, the Spain international may not be all that interested in joining Spurs.
The defender is accustomed to participating in the UEFA Champions League and winning the Premier League at City after all.
Spurs won’t participate in the top club competition in Europe next year and are not likely to contend for the Premier League crown any time soon.
Laporte is a superb defender who would improve Spurs, but we do not believe a summer transfer would take place.
