Following Manchester United’s insistence that they won’t submit a fourth proposal for the England international, Chelsea has lowered their asking price for Mason Mount.
For Friday, Chelsea turned out United’s third Mount bid at £55 million.
The Blues challenged United’s offer by offering a deal for a total of £65 million, consisting of £58 million + £7 million in add-ons.
According to a report cited by The Peoples Person, United made it clear to Chelsea that they would never increase their offer.
Even Chelsea’s offer for face-to-face negotiations to find a resolution to the problem was turned down by the Red Devils.
While considering alternatives to Mount, such as Mohammed Kudus, Moises Caicedo, and Taylor Booth, United’s offer is still on the table.
In order to avoid losing Mount for nothing in a year, Chelsea are reportedly now willing to accept less money for him.
The 24-year-old has reaffirmed to the Chelsea leadership that he does not intend to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge and that his goal is to move to Old Trafford.
According to 90min, “90min has also learned that there may be a middle ground between the existing proposals for the two parties to strike a deal, despite the current £10m gap in valuations.”
Chelsea would be expected to complete the trade if United made a new offer for £60 million, according to 90 Minutes, which is just £5 million more than their previous counteroffer and below United’s most recent bid.
It is acknowledged that the Blues are likely to complete the trade if United reach that sum.
The Red Devils feel Chelsea are include a “United tax” in a deal to sign Mount, and as things stand, a fourth offer is not forthcoming, according to Graeme Bailey and Scott Saunders.
