The joint-most expensive starting player in the annals of the Fantasy Premier League is Erling Haaland.
The most popular game of its sort in the world, FPL, has tagged Manchester City star Haaland with a £14 million price tag for the upcoming season.
Since its debut before of the 2002/03 season, only three previous Premier League talents have been valued so highly; the first was Thierry Henry in 2005.
The legendary Arsenal player eventually peaked that year for £14.9 million, the highest price ever, scoring 27 goals and dishing out eight assists in just 32 games.
With that performance, he was able to keep his £14 million beginning salary for the following season before leaving to join Barcelona at the conclusion of it. The most expensive player in the game after that was Cristiano Ronaldo, who eventually matched his price.
Ronaldo, who was then categorized as a midfielder, saw his salary increase to £14 million in 2008 as a result of his astounding 31 goals and six assists the season prior, which led to a then-record 283 points.
Robin van Persie, a member of Manchester United, was the third and final starter worth £14 million. He joined the elite list in 2013 after making an immediate impact during his first season at Old Trafford.
He received the enormous valuation that Haaland has now equaled thanks to a record of 26 goals and 15 assists. Funny enough, no player has ever had a starting FPL price of £13.5 million.
At £13 million, Sergio Aguero (2015–16 and 2016–17), Mohamed Salah (2018–19 and 2022–23), and Frank Lampard (2010–11) are the next most expensive players in history.
Numerous players have since debuted at £12.5 million, notably Harry Kane of Tottenham in 2021. Despite his constant point production, he has never been valued higher.
For defenders, John Terry, who began the 2004–2005 season at £8.5 million and increased to £9 million as a result of Chelsea keeping a record–breaking 25 clean sheets, was the most expensive player ever.
