The rumored replacement to the famous Thierry Henry is a French forward with whom Manchester United is in talks.
With Cristiano Ronaldo leaving in the middle of the season and Wout Weghorst’s loan deal coming to an end, the Red Devils are in need of a new striker this summer. Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta and Manchester United have reached a preliminary understanding, but the deal has not yet been finalized.
But in spite of the offer made to the Dane, new reports are already surfacing that another brilliant young talent is in the firing line.
Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt has talked with United about a move this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, a transfer specialist, in an interview with GiveMeSport.
According to the Italian journalist, Kolo Muani’s price tag is approximately €100 million (£85 million). “It’s true that Manchester United and Eintracht have spoken a little bit about the circumstances of the tale during the past two weeks, but Eintracht wants €100 million and still intends to hold the player for another season before selling him in the summer of 2024.
Kolo Muani might be a bit on the pricey side for United this summer with the impending arrival of Andre Onana, the recent purchase of Mason Mount, and the need for another center-back. United are also rumoured to have a smaller budget this summer. The highly regarded French international has previously been compared to his countryman Thierry Henry for his physique and playing style.
“Kolo Muani has a languid dribbling style and immense turn of speed that were hallmarks of Henry’s game — especially at a young age,” the official website of the Bundesliga stated in April. “He bears a similar strength on the ball and a cheekiness to his play that will leave Bundesliga defenders both in his wake and cutting frustrated figures.”
Kolo Muani is reportedly also on Bayern Munich’s shortlist as a possible No. 9 in the event that they are unsuccessful in acquiring Harry Kane.
According to Transfermarkt, the 24-year-old is worth €80 million.
