Kieran Tierney has recently been on Manchester City’s radar, and journalist Charles Watts has stated that Arsenal are willing to sell him.
The Gunners full-back is being considered for transfer by the Citizens, according to a report from back in April.
The Scotsman would likely jump at the chance to play for Pep Guardiola’s team if the opportunity arose, according to journalist Paul Brown, who made the suggestion more recently.
Recently, talk of Tierney’s future at the north London club has resurfaced, with one journalist speculating that City may be able to pursue a deal for the defender.
Tierney could be sold by Arsenal.
In a recent video posted to his YouTube channel, Watts had the following to say regarding Tierney and the circumstances surrounding his employment at Arsenal.
“The club are open to Tierney leaving, it’s just a matter of if a decent offer comes in, then they’ll consider it, and at this point, obviously, that excellent offer hasn’t yet,” he stated. It remains to be seen if it does.
The 26-year-old transferred from Celtic to Arsenal during the 2019 summer transfer window for a rumoured cost of £24 million.
Since then, the Scottish international has made 123 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s team in all competitions, making five goals and dishing out 14 assists while being described as a “phenomenal” player by Alex Ferguson in the past.
It’s possible that the Gunners’ apparent willingness to sell him in the event that a good offer comes their way is due to the fact that he only started six Premier League games last season.
If City decides to pursue a move to sign Tierney in the future, this summer may be the best opportunity to do so and determine the price at which they would have to pay to do so.
