According to reports, Manchester United and Benjamin Pavard, a defender for Bayern Munich, have come to a personal understanding. The Frenchman is reportedly being considered by the Red Devils as a Harry Maguire replacement.
Maguire, a former club captain, seems destined to leave Old Trafford. The England defender, who initially hoped to compete for Erik ten Hag’s starting spot, has been heavily linked with a move to West Ham.
According to rumours, Pavard may be sold by Bayern to help the team balance its books after Harry Kane’s £100 million transfer from Tottenham. According to reports, the 27-year-old wants to quit the Bundesliga team because the Premier League is interested in him.
According to reports from Germany, Pavard’s “obvious wish” is to join United. The Red Devils are reportedly looking to continue their transfer negotiations with Bayern.
Personal details have already been agreed upon, but the two clubs are valued at £20 million differently, according to Bild. Bayern apparently wants between £45m and £50m for the adaptable defender, while United reportedly wants to pay approximately £25m.
Furthermore, it is alleged that Bayern are hesitant to part with Pavard. After failing to catch Kyle Walker, they might wind up depriving the former Stuttgart player the chance to go.
Pavard is capable of playing both right and centre back for his current team, though he primarily plays right back. The France international has a year left on his current contract and hasn’t received an offer to sign a new one.
Maguire appears to be leaving United in a dull fashion at the time. Widespread rumours have the 30-year-old connected to West Ham, but Ten Hag has given him the chance to compete for one of the starting spots.
Ten Hag remarked on Friday, “For Harry, he has to battle for his place. Why shouldn’t he be the best for us if he is the best for England? He has the potential to be a world-class centre back.
But he needs to offer evidence. When he lacks the confidence to continue the fight, he must leave and make the choice. But I’m content with him.
“Our team doesn’t consist of 11 guys. The last season shown that we need all of the players, so you need top-tier players who may not be starting now, but that could change. As a result, there is internal competition, and everyone must contend for a position.
