Guardiola Halts Player’s Departure as Aspirations Extend Beyond Manchester City

Stefan Ortega, who left Arminia Bielefeld for Manchester City last summer, now has the chance to go back to Germany.
The 30-year-old, who served as Ederson’s backup last season, is currently the subject of Bayern Munich’s attention as they search for a new custodian.
The Bavarian club’s interest was initially made known by Sky Deutschland, who even claimed to have gotten in touch with the Manchester City player.
This year, Manuel Neuer hasn’t played and isn’t expected to anytime soon. As a result, the Bundesliga team began searching for a first-choice goalie, with Ortega becoming the new objective.
In his debut season at the Etihad, he played in 14 matches across all competitions and helped the Citizens win the triple. In the Community Shield loss to Arsenal, Pep Guardiola started Ortega, but he preferred Ederson for the league match.
According to RAN Sport journalist Martin Volkmar, Ortega would replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the team’s starting center if he joined Bayern.
He posted on Twitter that the German ‘would like to’ join Bayern because he isn’t Manchester City’s first-choice custodian. Pep Guardiola’s team is “blocking” Volkmar’s transfer, and they will keep doing so until they find a new No. 2, says Volkmar.
