Piero Hincapie, a defender for Bayer Leverkusen, is allegedly ‘ very open’ to the idea of joining Liverpool, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Prior to the deadline on Friday, Jacobs gave an update on Hincapie’s future in a space on the social media network X.
This week, Liverpool may be searching for a left-sided defender as they try to strengthen the caliber of their center-back alternatives.
Darwin Nunez scored a late brace from the bench as the Reds prevailed in a thrilling game at St. James’ Park on Sunday.
However, the victory made it clear that Liverpool has to get a new defense. In fact, during the early parts of the game, Virgil van Dijk received a red card, and Ibrahima Konate was suspended.
Piero Hincapie, according to Jacobs, is very interested in moving to Anfield, although Liverpool has not yet made a proposal for the defender.
Hincapie is eager to join Liverpool
Jacobs provided an update on Liverpool’s quest for a new center-back when speaking on X.
The CBS journalist stated, “Centre-back wise, I get a lot of inquiries about Hincapie. “I continue to hear that there hasn’t been an offer from persons close to the player.
The player, by the way, would be quite open to a move to Liverpool, but as of right now, I’m not aware of a Liverpool offer. However, two Premier League clubs have been linked to him and have undoubtedly made inquiries.
“The other club is West Ham and they have obviously had a failed pursuit and I do think we can call him it that now, of Harry Maguire, so they are in the market for a center-back as well.
“But I do think Liverpool will be very busy between now and the end of the window.”
Hincapie has made an impression at Bayer Leverkusen in recent years and appears prepared to make the jump to Premier League football.
The defender, who is only 21, has previously played in the Champions League for Leverkusen and received 27 caps for Ecuador.
It’s puzzling why Liverpool hasn’t acted given that he is supposedly valued at approximately £35 million and that Klopp’s team is in severe need of a left-footed center-back.
The Reds could use some additional quality at center-back and the guy is obviously interested in moving to Anfield.
