The championship contenders under Mikel Arteta had a fantastic weekend, seeing many of their rivals lose while cruising to a 4-0 victory against Bournemouth on the south coast. Ben White, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Ben White’s goals capped off an afternoon in which we saw Arsenal back at their ruthless attacking best.
With his first goal in a Gunners jersey and maybe the first of many, Havertz’ goal put an end to a rough stretch for the Germany international. This crucial outcome occurred in the midst of defeats for Man City and Liverpool, two teams that may end up pushing Arsenal for the Premier League title.
After his team’s triumph, a jubilant Arteta exclaimed, “Very happy, very happy.”
“The way we approached the game since yesterday, the team was prepared to play, and we were aware of the challenge we faced against a team that didn’t deserve it based on the games they had played; they don’t give you any time, the ball is constantly under pressure, the field is small, and it’s hard to escape from that; however, I believe we read the game really well and earned the right to win it. I’m incredibly delighted about the victory, but I’m even glad to be a member of a team that exemplifies the human traits they shown today.
Then, in what is a crucial week for Arteta and company, Arsenal will play RC Lens in the Champions League this evening, followed by Pep Guardiola’s City at the weekend.
Arsenal player ratings
In Arsenal’s 4-0 thrashing of the Cherries, there were several standout players, but Sky analyst Campbell, speaking to the broadcaster [01/10/2023], has reserved special admiration for one individual.
In fact, he thinks team leader Odegaard is “making a difference” and “coming into himself now.”
Campbell said (as reported by HITC), “This guy here, honestly, Martin Odegaard, the captain, he really, truly is coming into his self now.
“He is changing everything. He arranged for Kai Havertz to have the chance to accept the punishment with Saka. Kai Havertz hitting the mark, in my opinion, is positive for the organization.
Campbell recently lauded the Norwegian international as a “underrated” talent and told the Highbury Squad YouTube channel that he is “maturing” right before our eyes.
Campbell stated, “He is a really great talent, Odegaard, and I still think he’s underestimated, I do.
“Odegaard, He is developing as a commander before our very eyes. He is developing, and it’s wonderful that we haven’t seen the best of him yet. Let’s just hope that this Arsenal dynasty continues to exist because so many of these players will develop together. Together, these men are going to be world-class.
