Liverpool’s ‘outrage’ after losing Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea has changed to joy as a result of their own trades now going more smoothly.
SportBILD, which covers the transfer war between the two clubs today and how Liverpool might have fared better as a result, claims as much.
Later in the transfer window, Liverpool and Chelsea fought for the acquisitions of Caicedo and Lavia, each paying significant sums to secure both players.
It ultimately resulted in a transfer scuffle between the two, with both players bouncing back and forth over a tumultuous few weeks between Anfield and Stamford Bridge.
They both ultimately ended up at the latter after Chelsea paid high prices for both and persuaded them to disregard interest from the Reds.
That allegedly sparked ‘outrage’ at Liverpool, who ‘were ridiculed at’ for failing to sign either player despite making a significant attempt to do so, according to SportBILD. Although the transfers they made actually worked out extremely well for them, Caicedo and Lavia have yet to leave their mark in London. As a result, “Now Liverpool is laughing.”
SportBILD, at least, holds the opinion that Chelsea are the reverse of Jurgen Klopp’s club and that “they changed into the wrong jersey.”
Here, they criticize Todd Boehly, claiming that he “has no idea about football” and incites “constant unrest” that has spilled over into the locker room.
They contend that the American owner only “gets whatever is promising for others,” as seen by his recruitment of Liverpool-wanted players Caicedo and Lavia as well as Mykhaylo Mudryk, whom they pushed to sign before Arsenal.
On the other hand, Klopp is crucial to Anfield’s additions and ‘pays attention’ to character compatibility and playing styles.
This was illustrated by the acquisition of Dominik Szoboszlai, whose €70 million deal was first questioned but is currently “being celebrated.” He has been a star at Anfield since the beginning and appears to have “been there for years.”
All of this is good news for the Reds, who SportBILD think may have gained something from the struggle with Chelsea and their subsequent loss. On the other hand, people who visited Stamford Bridge would “really regret it” now.
