Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, coercive behavior, and assault in October of last year after being detained in January 2022. However, those accusations were abandoned in February after crucial witnesses withdrew, according to the Crown Prosecution Service, who claimed there was “no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.”

Following a thorough investigation into Greenwood’s behavior, Man Utd announced their choice about his future on August 21. They claimed that despite Greenwood having “made mistakes that he is taking responsibility for,” they did not think he had committed the crimes for which he was being held responsible.
The striker would not resume his career at Man Utd, the Red Devils continued, and they would assist the forward in finding a new team. Man Utd did not fully rule out the prospect of Greenwood playing for them again in the future, though.
Greenwood later agreed to a loan with the Spanish team Getafe. He has made four appearances thus far and has contributed one assist, but he has not yet scored a goal.
The 2020 1-0 victory over Iceland marked the only time the Man Utd academy product played for England. He played for 12 minutes in the game.
But Greenwood might be in for a significant upheaval. Hallgrimsson was asked about Greenwood, a Jamaican-born actor, during a recent interview with the Jamaica Observer. “I’m not different from all coaches in the world,” the manager declared. The best talent is what we want on our team. If he regains his prior level of health and performance, he will undoubtedly be able to assist Jamaica.
Although Greenwood did play for England in a competitive Nations League match, according to FIFA regulations, he is still free to support Jamaica. Greenwood might return to the international stage if he does well in Getafe.

At the club level, when Greenwood returns from his loan term in the summer of 2024, Man Utd and Greenwood will both have to make a significant choice.
Man Utd haven’t explicitly ruled out Greenwood representing them again, as was previously indicated. But this is doubtful given the significant public outcry.
Greenwood would probably join a European team if Man Utd choose to trade him instead. His name has previously been connected to clubs in Turkey and Italy.
