Hojlund has not yet scored in the Premier League, but since joining United, the Danish international has scored twice in two Champions League contests. United supporter will be hoping to add to his total this weekend when they play Sheffield United.
When it was reported that he would be joining United, parallels between him and Erling Haaland first started to circulate. Many people, like me, thought it was unfair to the 20-year-old because he already faces a lot of stress playing for Old Trafford.
Hojlund was questioned about the similarity to Haaland when speaking to Danish broadcaster TV2 Sport. He responded in a pretty humble manner and expressed his desire to improve as a football player.
Hojlund said, “I would prefer not to be compared to him. “In my opinion, he is a unique individual. Though I believe it is too soon now, I do aim to match his level one day.
If not the finest footballer in the world, Erling is in any case the best striker in the world. I don’t really want to be compared to him, but I do want I could be like him someday.
“Whose to say? I’m just 20 years old. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the future.
At this time, I believe that the similarities between the two strikers truly start and stop with the fact that they are both Scandinavian.
Hojlund thinks for himself.
