Danny Murphy has emphasized how essential Reece James is to the Chelsea squad.
Most Blues supporters consider Reece James, who was named captain in the summer, to be one of the team’s best players at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old star’s unfortunate string of ailments is quite upsetting because he provides the squad with so much at right-back, both offensively and defensively.
Last week, he developed his most recent hamstring issue. James might find it difficult to make a comeback before the conclusion of the season, according to a source close to Chelsea, which The Athletic has since claimed to have heard.
Important Chelsea player
When James is missing in the starting lineup, Danny Murphy observes a significant decline from Chelsea. The past few years have also shown the similar tendency to us.
He also conveyed his surprise that the Blues medical staff is unable to determine the cause of these recurrent ailment setbacks.
“I have to feel sorry for Reece James. When a player sustains an injury frequently, people want to blame them, believing that it’s a psychological issue. Look, I had hamstring injuries seven times,” Murphy said on the FIVE YouTube channel.
What puzzles me is that the medical departments were excellent even during my last year; why can’t they identify the problem?
“They’re not as good when he’s not playing.”
Reece James makes a significant impact
James is an excellent defender in one-on-one situations who outmatches most wingers.
Regarding the full-back’s offensive prowess, he possesses exceptional technical skill and is a superb ball crosser.
Although he’s arguably the one guy in the Chelsea starting lineup you wouldn’t want to remove, they still need to figure out how to play without him.
The 20-year-old Malo Gusto is a comparable replacement at right back. He isn’t quite on James’ level yet, of course.
The defender Nico Elvedi of Borussia Monchengladbach has reportedly surfaced as a £30 million transfer target for Chelsea, according to TEAMtalk.
