Jurgen Klopp oversaw a really dull 2022–23 season for the Reds, and there was a very real chance that Klopp would find it difficult to lead Liverpool back to its former glory when players like Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson et al. left for other pastures last summer.
But any concerns prior to the 2023–24 season were swiftly allayed, as Liverpool is unquestionably the club to beat at this point in the current campaign.
The management and his backroom crew seem to still be planning forward in order to maintain performance consistency, even with this obvious “re-birth.”
Marc Guehi, the England international defender for Crystal Palace, is one player that they are reportedly keeping an eye on, according to the Daily Mirror.
The source speculates that Guehi might join the Reds as a longer-term Joel Matip replacement, despite the implicit understanding that captain Virgil van Dijk is becoming older.
The guy won’t be able to sign with the Eagles on the cheap, and it’s anyone’s guess what the asking price might be given the state of the market.
That won’t, however, likely discourage Liverpool, especially if they win a trophy at the end of the year, making them an appealing offer to any potential recruit.
