According to reports, Erik Ten Hag’s primary summer attacking target is Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan
Erik Ten Hag allegedly “personally requested” that the Red Devils pursue a summer contract for the Argentina international, according to a recent report from Fichajes.
It is reported that Ten Hag is eyeing several spots in both defense and attack as he looks to bolster his team ahead of the upcoming season with the assistance of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a new 25% stakeholder.
A center forward with experience is also anticipated to support coach Rasmus Hojlund, even though the former Ajax manager appears to be prioritizing the addition of at least one new defender.
It is also thought that Martinez—who only has two years left on his Inter Milan contract—is the top choice.
The striker’s cost will be United’s largest obstacle during the summer transfer window. Inter’s number 10 is now valued at an incredible £94 million (TM). Although it is unlikely that the Premier League giants will be able to spend that much on a single player, outgoings may help finance a move.
It is anticipated that Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whose contracts expire in the summer, would depart Old Trafford at the conclusion of the current campaign (Manchester Evening News).
The future of Jadon Sancho is also unknown; after a public argument with Ten Hag, he was loaned back to his old team, Borussia Dortmund, till the end of the campaign.
Martinez, who won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, joined Inter from Racing Club in 2018. In 268 games in all competitions, Martinez has scored 124 goals and provided 41 assists.
