Ruben Dias has given Manchester City what is maybe the strongest indication to yet that he is fully committed to staying with the team.
Ruben Dias, the Portugal international Centre back, who originally cost €68 million to sign when he left SL Benfica early in the 2020–21 season, has been a key component of Manchester City’s success.
Ruben Dias has played a key role in multiple center-back combinations, but he is best remembered for his remarkable relationship with John Stones. Ruben Dias has won the Premier League title with Manchester City in each of his team’s first nine seasons, in addition to a number of other significant trophies.
However, as speculation over whether his countryman Bernardo Silva may look to leave Manchester City in the upcoming months intensifies, the 26-year-old defender has given what may be the strongest hint yet that he is only interested in staying put.
In a recent interview with The National, Dias faced the question of whether he would rather play for a team that continuously wins and stays at the top of the sport, or for a club with the perfect cultural and environmental surroundings.
Ruben Dias clarified, “Even if you are in the most beautiful place on earth, if you are not happy at work, then you are not happy.”
“Considerate anything comes to mind—the sea, the sun, snow, etc. Manchester is where we are. Like every place, work has its ups and downs, but overall we’re happy here, and even though we’ve achieved a lot of success, we know we can do it again.
“You ask me where I would rather be?” he said. I would prefer to live somewhere that will enable me to continue winning over somewhere that will only allow me to live the way I choose to live outside of work.
Ruben Dias has steadily reestablished himself as the team’s finest central defence despite having a rather poor start to the season compared to his typically excellent standards. He has made 29 appearances in all competitions.
The fact that Dias is a member of Manchester City’s leadership group further demonstrates his value to the starting lineup. Dias is well-known for giving Pep Guardiola’s teams words of encouragement and motivation prior to crucial games.
Ruben Dias will most likely play a key role in helping Manchester City stay at the top of the European game in the upcoming seasons as he continues to solidify his position as an essential member of the Etihad club’s on-field operations.
