Manchester City will be without Jack Grealish for two to three weeks after he received an injury against Copenhagen on Tuesday night.
Manchester City’s 28-year-old attacker, who had been benched in previous games as Pep Guardiola preferred players like Jeremy Doku in a fluid attacking setup, finally played for the team in the Champions League.
Grealish’s boss has expressed admiration for the Englishman’s comeback and his willingness to regain his peak performance, despite reports that the setbacks for the first team squad left him visibly dissatisfied during training.
But on Tuesday night, Grealish was substituted at Parken after just 21 minutes due to a muscular injury sustained off the ball, even though it was his first start in several games against FC Copenhagen.
The Manchester City forward made a fleeting attempt to continue in the Danish city, but Jeremy Doku eventually took his place. Grealish was clearly upset by this latest setback in what is turning out to be an incredibly challenging campaign for him personally.
Now, after suffering a groyne injury against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday night, Jack Grealish is anticipated to miss two to three weeks of action, as reported by Mike McGrath of The Telegraph.
Following the match, Grealish and the rest of the Manchester City team were evaluated by medical professionals in Denmark. The study said that Jack Grealish’s issue and recovery period were “not as bad as some muscular injuries.”
Grealish’s potential return is emphasised for Gareth Southgate and his England team ahead of the Three Lions’ season-ending matches against Brazil and Belgium in March, which precede the summer’s European Championships.
In just 14 Premier League games so far this season, Jack Grealish has contributed just one assist and three goals to Manchester City’s championship defense. He plays for Pep Guardiola’s team.
Due to his injury, Grealish will not be playing in this weekend’s Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium against Chelsea. In addition, the wide forward may miss six other important games.
Along with Premier League matches against Manchester United and Liverpool and the second leg of City’s UEFA Champions League last-16 match against Copenhagen, that stretch would feature matches like an FA Cup fifth round matchup at Kenilworth Road versus Luton Town.
