Dwayne Johnson’s dramatic comeback to accepting a return to his heel role is just one example of how the WWE’s narrative has drastically evolved in recent weeks.
The foundation of Friday night’s SmackDown was Roman Reigns and The Rock. Their show-closing segment was excellent, and they did not let us down.
Setting the stage, Reigns gave a great promo after gaining recognition from the Salt Lake City fans. There was an incredibly ill-timed commercial break when he presented The Rock as The Bloodline’s newest member. It was evident once more that The Rock and Reigns were collaborating after the show resumed, even though this was not the initial idea when Rhodes first introduced The Rock just two weeks prior.
With that, The Rock went full villain, slicing through the throng and making fun of Rhodes. He formally joined The Bloodline after vowing that Rhodes would lose at WrestleMania.
All in all, it was a fantastic segment. WWE has a plethora of options at our disposal, all of which could result in an incredible WrestleMania. Furthermore, Rhodes will have to answer, and it will be fascinating to see how Seth Rollins plays a part in the narrative.
It feels long overdue, but Paul Heyman still needs to work his magic and cut a promo about the whole thing. In addition to Rhodes-Reigns, there’s the inevitable matchup between Rock and Rhodes, which may make for an incredible bout at WrestleMania.
There are several choices available for WrestleMania. The timing of The Rock’s increased energy injection into WWE couldn’t be greater.
