Luka Modric’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu is becoming more and more uncertain, and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has acknowledged that he has personally spoken with the midfield player about it.
The 38-year-old Luka Modric is rumored to be dissatisfied with his little playing time, and negotiations over new terms have not advanced before his contract expires in the summer.
This season, the seasoned Croatian has mostly been relegated to bench duty. He has been connected to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in recent months. In addition to Madrid’s other seasoned midfield player, Toni Kroos, Ancelotti has favored to deploy younger players.
Ancelotti was once more questioned on Modric’s meager role at Real Madrid thus far this season before Sunday’s trip to Rayo Vallecano.
“I’ve discussed this subject with you and him on numerous occasions. Good enough, Ancelotti answered.
Sitting on the bench is tough for someone who is accustomed to playing practically every game if not all of them. I fully comprehend and appreciate it. However, his actions are quite serious, professional, training, and combative. He may play in any game, even the one tomorrow [against Rayo], as he is available.
As before, when he participated in every game, he still made the same contribution. He is a well-liked person who exemplifies what a professional ought to be like. He works out hard every day, and when he’s not playing, he gives what he’s given in the past. He remains a point of reference for the team.”
Ancelotti commented, “The club’s policy has been that, in recent years, with the legends who have one year left on their contract: Kroos, Nacho, everyone,” about Madrid’s choice to hand their senior players rolling one-year contracts. I discussed this subject with Luka a month ago, and we both have a thorough understanding of one other’s positions.”
Since joining Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, Modric has made 515 appearances and won an incredible 24 championships in the Spanish metropolis.
