Kai Havertz has acknowledged that he is excited to visit the location of his biggest victory as Arsenal resumes their Champions League campaign this week.
The German will be returning to the venue where he scored the game-winning goal for Chelsea against Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final when the Gunners travel to Porto on Wednesday for their first-leg matchup in the round of 16.
Havertz remarked, “I mean, I am looking forward to playing there again because it will always be a nice memory for me.”
“I will always hold special memories and things from that place in my heart.”
“Hopefully, after the game, my team will have the same outcome as it did three years ago.”
Arsenal has won five straight games and scored 21 goals, their most recent goal coming on Saturday in a 5-0 rout of Burnley. They are in incredible form at home.
Now the focus is on Europe and a competition that the team has never won.
“I believe that winning the Champions League is the goal of every team participating.” That’s what every team wants to achieve in the end.
Currently, there are two games to play. The first game is on Wednesday; we’ll strive to win it and then watch the second one.
Since moving to The Emirates from Chelsea for £65 million last summer, Havertz has been deployed by manager Mikel Arteta in both midfield and attack due to his flexibility.
Havertz continues, “I feel comfortable to play wherever. I have said it many times.”
I am not a player who plays only one position, as you are all aware. I consider my ability to be adaptable to be one of my assets.
“The most crucial thing is that I will give it my all wherever I play.”
“I feel like a pocket position works well for me, but I’ll give it my all wherever I play.”
