Diogo Jota is currently out of action after picking up an injury against Brentford
Diogo Jota has voiced his happiness at Liverpool’s Wednesday night triumph over Luton Town.
The Portuguese forward was injured against Brentford on Saturday afternoon, therefore he was unable to play. Following a challenge for the ball, Christian Norgaard landed awkwardly on Jota’s knee, injuring it.
The 27-year-old tried to continue, but it quickly became clear that he was too uncomfortable, and he was taken out on a stretcher. Concerns regarding Jota’s injury persisted in the second half when a member of the Liverpool backroom team was seen hobbling alongside the tunnel cam.
Jurgen Klopp stated in his pre-Luton press conference that the injury was indeed as serious as anticipated. The German responded, “Not great, I would like to say no issues but we have some.”
“Unavailable: Ali, a muscular injury; we’re not sure when it will heal, but it won’t happen anytime soon. Next, Diogo is ruled out due to a knee problem. Curtis Jones is ruled out due to a bone/ligament condition.”
He subsequently stated: “With Diogo, it will rather take months (not weeks).” Since then, Jota has been making an effort to lift his spirits, and it was evident that he was paying close attention as his teammates overcame a goal behind to defeat the Hatters 4-1 at Anfield.
An upset was prevented by two goals from Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Virgil van Dijk in the second half. One of the players who expressed his happiness with the outcome on social media was the captain of Liverpool, who wrote on Instagram, “Resilience! Wembley shortly!”
After Jota responded, “Love it,” in the comments section below, he received a barrage of well wishes from Reds fans.
After the victory at Anfield, Klopp commented, “Amazing performance. While I found much of the first half to be enjoyable, I could tell that the lads and audience found it less so.
“We had a decent start, but you have to adjust to your opponents. After they scored, everything went well until the last three minutes, at which point we rushed things.
“I told the boys it was a top game and we have to be calmer in decisive moments, then there were fireworks and wonderful goals – fantastic night and it is just really good.”
