Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s comments about Vinícius Jr. drew notice on Sunday.
And the Italian has already intimated that his star wide player’s role won’t be affected by Kylian Mbappé’s impending arrival in Madrid.
Of course, it has long been a hot topic of conversation at the Santiago Bernabéu regarding the anticipated impact of Mbappé’s partnership with Real on the other striking players of the team.
There will probably be a significant shake-up for the 2023–24 campaign because the Frenchman is anticipated to sign a contract with Los Blancos shortly.
However, the aforementioned Vinícius is one Real Madrid forward who doesn’t appear likely to see a change in his starting lineup.
Given that both Mbappé and the Brazilian prefer to work their magic on the left wing, there had been suggestions in the media that Vinícius would be moved to the right, or possibly the bench, when PSG’s lucky striker arrived in the capital of Spain this summer.
Carlo Ancelotti, however, seemed to rule out the chance of as much when he confirmed his plan to field Vinícius “where he is most comfortable” during a press conference today:
Although Vini is very comfortable playing out wide, I believe he can play inside, perhaps not as a center-forward but rather with two forwards. He’s come a long way in that he now occasionally ventures much further inside to find room in crowded locations. A player of his calibre should be placed on the left flank, where he feels most at ease.
