Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou’s heavyweight showdown takes place on March 8.
When Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou square off on March 8 in Saudi Arabia, promoter Eddie Hearn thinks Francis Ngannou will present a serious challenge.
In an exciting matchup, Joshua will now take on the former UFC heavyweight champion after easily defeating Otto Wallin in December.
Joshua will be facing an opponent for the first time in his professional boxing career after suffering a loss to Tyson Fury in October, thus he cannot afford any mistakes.
Ngannou took down Fury in the third round and left the fight with a lot of praise, even if the WBC world heavyweight champion defeated him.
In anticipation of the bout, Hearn discussed why Ngannou poses a threat to Joshua on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour.
“This is the first time AJ has fought an opponent that outsizes him,” Hearn claimed.
I went to talk to him at the press conference and AJ seemed like a cruiserweight and a heavyweight. This man is massive; you have probably seen him around a lot.
So, there is a threat here. Here we have Godzilla and King Kong together at the press conference, weigh-in, and ring in Riyadh.
In this about, anything can happen; a single blow to the chin ends it.
“I’m very confident that AJ is going to knock him out.”
