With Ezri Konsa back in training at Bodymoor Heath, Unai Emery has received a massive boost.
After spraining his knee during the 5-0 victory against Sheffield United at the beginning of the month, the center-back has been out for three and a half weeks. Earlier today, Konsa was captured on camera entering the Bodymoor Heath training pitch.
Up to the time of his knee injury, he had started all of Emery’s Villa games in the Premier League. Diego Carlos then hurt his hamstring in training before the trip to Fulham, leaving Emery with little choices in defense.
After missing out on a start for two months, Pau Torres made a welcome comeback to Craven Cottage, starting both the 2-1 triumph and the subsequent victory over Nottingham Forest. He did, however, leave the game at halftime due to a minor ache in the back of his leg.
Even though his removal was merely a precaution, Emery will inform the press during Friday’s news conference about his availability. Konsa’s fitness to play Luton Town at Kenilworth Road will also be discussed by the head coach of Villa.
With a game remaining, Villa is currently five points ahead of Tottenham and eight ahead of Manchester United in fourth place. Before the Red Devils play Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, Emery’s team will have 11 points ahead of United if they defeat Luton and win the league for the third time in a row.
