According to reports originating from Brazil, Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, has now authorized Chelsea to close another lucrative deal.
BolaVIP reports that the American has accepted Flamengo’s approach to try to recruit 18-year-old Matheus Goncalves.
Even though some of the young players haven’t been able to join the first squad yet, Boehly has been eager for the team to bring in a variety of qualities since taking over.
Kendry Paez, who won’t be allowed to play for the first squad until 2025, is arguably the most promising player on the list.
But because they have so much faith in him for the future, rumors have it that they have been eager for him to practice alongside his future colleagues.
The owner appears eager to bring in Goncalves, an attacking midfielder, as his newest addition.
Boehly accepts £85 million from Goncalves
According to the Brazilian story, Boehly has given the Blues the green light to move, albeit they haven’t yet made an official bid.
The article continues by stating that the young player has a release clause worth about £85 million, but it is extremely doubtful that they will try to spend that much to keep him on board.
Given the situation the current first squad finds itself in, some Chelsea supporters may become irate with increased rumors that the club is concentrating on signing younger players.
Even with the large expenditures on the starting lineup, there is still a clear need to address several positions, the primary one being that of the striker.
