The news of Paul Pogba’s (30) four-year doping punishment has “saddened me,” according to France manager Didier Deschamps. The Juventus midfielder, Pogba, was given a four-year suspension on Thursday. He has been suspended since September 11th after testing positive for a prohibited substance on August 20. After hearing the news, the Frenchman declared he would be challenging the decision.
The former Manchester United midfielder expressed his shock, sadness, and heartbreak at having everything he had worked so hard to build during his professional playing career taken away from him. He also stated that he would be appealing the decision through the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Pogba has probably worn the France national team’s Bleu shirt for the final time in his career. He has been a mainstay for Deschamps since joining Les Bleus in 2013, and the coach has awarded him 91 caps. In that time, he has scored 11 goals, and he was a key member of the team that won the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Paul Pogba’s positive test result, according to Deschamps, was an accident.
“I don’t think for a second that Pogba desired or meant to use drugs. That is not who he is, as far as I know. “What Paul has gone through these past few months has been extremely difficult, just like the ruling that the Italian anti-doping tribunal announced on Thursday. Given what he has done with the national team and the relationships that have been formed with the France national team, I can’t be insensitive to his pain,” Deschamps said in response, as reported by L’Équipe.
I’m sorry for his predicament and sincerely hope that everything turns out okay. In any event, I would like to think that the existence of an illicit hormone is undeniable. Paul has that issue, and to defend himself, he will need to take the lead in a battle,” Deschamps continued.
The France World Cup winner is being courted by United to come to Old Trafford in the summer because they think he can contribute to the team’s long-term success plan.
