According to speculations from the Italian publication Tuttosport, Ederson, the midfielder who won the Europa League, would take Thiago’s spot at Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot.
Thiago’s departure from Liverpool was officially announced on May 17th, following four seasons marred by injuries at Anfield. During this spell, the 46-year-old Spanish international participated in 68 league games and netted two goals. Thiago was considered an essential member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad when he was completely fit, particularly deserving of a berth in the Team of the Season in 2021–2022.
He has, however, been hindered by injury concerns in recent seasons and has frequently been a huge absence for the squad, which has struggled in that area recently.
Slot is eager to add a hard-tackling central midfielder to Liverpool’s lineup so that Dominik Szbozslai and Alexis Mac Allister can control the game in more advanced areas.
According to Tuttosport, Ederson is the club’s top target even though he has ties to his countryman Teun Koopmeiners. After moving to Atalanta in 2022, Ederson has played 89 games for the Serie A team in just two seasons. He is most known for having led the team to the Coppa Italia final and a Europa League victory, which is the club’s first-ever European honour.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who has contributed six goals this season, is defensively minded. Because of his performance, he was selected for Brazil’s Copa America team, where he will likely make his senior debut.
Talented English trio pursues International Spanish
Mundo Deportivo says that Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool have all entered the hunt to recruit 33-year-old Spanish international Dani Olmo.
Olmo, a 26-year-old football player, is now a member of the Bundesliga’s top team, RB Leipzig. For the German team, he mostly plays as a winger, but he can also play in central midfield, where he is well-known for his superb ball control and inventiveness.
He made 21 appearances last season, scoring four goals and dishing out five assists. He also scored a hat-trick to help his team overcome Bayern Munich in the DFL Super-Cup final.
During his tenure at Red Bull Arena, Olmo has won two DFB Pokal crowns and has consistently represented his nation in their last two major tournaments. With 33 caps, he now holds the record for most goals scored by a Spanish player. He led his country to the 2020 Euro semifinals and the 2022 World Cup round of 16.
Olmo’s current RB Leipzig contract expires in the summer of 2027. A £60 million release clause in this contract allows for his departure from the Red Bull Arena.
