Manchester United dressing room leak compounds problems for Erik ten Hag
On Sunday, a torrential rainfall attempted to spoil Arsenal’s celebration at Old Trafford by seeping into the team’s changing room.
In order to maintain their hopes of winning the Premier League, Mikel Arteta’s team defeated Manchester United 1-0 on the road.
However, video footage posted online demonstrated how, following the game, a torrent of rainfall entered the away changing room through the roof.
In addition, the storm left water dripping into the ground; one camera captured a cascade cascading into a corner of the space.
However, even though there was 1.6 inches of rain reported in the two hours following the game, spectators were unharmed.
At Old Trafford, the weather added to the dismal atmosphere following Erik ten Hag’s challenging season.
Less than a week had passed after Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United’s minority owner, had voiced his displeasure about the “disgraceful” condition of the team’s offices and junior dressing rooms before the leaks went public.
Lord Coe, the man in charge of a group tasked with revitalising Old Trafford and its environs, was also at Old Trafford.
Ratcliffe has promised to invest £237 million in stadium improvements, but there have also been rumours that a new stadium called “Wembley of the North” will be constructed in lieu of the current one.
With two games remaining, United’s season is coming to an unsatisfactory close on the field as they are currently ranked eighth in the table following back-to-back losses to Crystal Palace and Arsenal.
However, Ten Hag’s team still has an opportunity to take home a trophy this season when they play Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25.
