After setting up Leandro Trossard for the game’s lone goal in Arsenal’s victory over Manchester United on Sunday, Kai Havertz has 12 goals and seven assists for the Gunners in the Premier League.
Following yet another impressive performance for the Gunners over the weekend, Kai Havertz has been compared to a well-known Liverpool legend from the club’s Jurgen Klopp era.
The 24-year-old Germany international assisted Leandro Trossard for Arsenal’s lone goal in the first half of their 1-0 triumph over Manchester United, marking his 19th goal involvement of the year. Havertz’s performance on Sunday at Old Trafford was just one more illustration of his recent brilliant play under boss Mikel Arteta.
Havertz was under intense scrutiny after missing several excellent opportunities after joining from London rivals Chelsea for £65 million during the summer.
Havertz is now a crucial component of Arsenal’s ongoing title fight against Manchester City, the reigning champions, though, thanks to a turn around in his play.
Neville also thinks that Havertz’s rising impact is comparable to that of Liverpool great Roberto Firmino because of his outstanding performances. Neville stated on Sky Sports that “Havertz is doing a similar thing to what Firmino did at Liverpool.”
“He enters the game, links it, and creates a goal threat. However, during a game, he will do anything the team needs because he is obedient to them. Recall that Havertz was largely under suspicion this season, but he has since emerged as a significant player.
“Firmino was a fantastic player for Liverpool, in my opinion. The primary accolades and credit used to go to [Sadio] Mane and [Mohamed] Salah. That’s correct, but I used to constantly bring up Firmino because of the way he played—linking the offence and midfield. Havertz is acting in a comparable manner.”
Firmino, who left Liverpool for the Saudi Pro League in the summer, proved to be both adaptable and altruistic by helping the team win several trophies. He was a false nine who frequently dropped deep into midfield to combine plays, yet he never lost his danger in the box. In his eight years at the team, Firmino tallied 75 assists and scored 111 goals.
Neville claims that Havertz has elements of the Brazilian play, most notably the adaptability that Arteta has had. Throughout the season, Havertz has played both as an attacking midfielder and more forward in central forward roles as his boss has attempted to get the most out of his group.
Havertz acknowledged that he will be the biggest Tottenham supporter for the one night only when the team hosts Manchester City on Tuesday night, with the Premier League title on the line for Arsenal. Arsenal would have a significant advantage going into their final game of the season against Everton this coming weekend if Spurs were to draw or win. As of right now, the Gunners have 86 points from 37 games, while City has 85 but one game remaining.
“On Tuesday, I’m going to become the biggest Tottenham fan ever. Havertz joked to Sky Sports on Sunday night, “We’re all going to there, so let’s hope for the best.
