Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian has discussed his future as he prepares to reach end of current contract at Anfield
Adrian, the custodian for Liverpool, has stated that he wants to finish his career in Spain.
After five years with the Reds, during which he won winners’ medals in the Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup, Adrian’s contract expires this summer.
However, in the last three seasons, the 37-year-old has only made two appearances and hasn’t played in the top flight since February 2021.
The custodian is also ready to return to La Liga, where he played for 15 years at hometown team Real Betis, in the summer after spending six years at West Ham United, from whence he joined Liverpool on a free transfer.
After 11 seasons in the Premier League, I would like to return to La Liga,” Adrian stated in an interview with Mucho Deporte. “A cycle would come to an end. I’m still prepared to fight. I may be 37, but I feel great.
“You know that daily training gives you that intensity that makes you compete, goalkeepers, if you take good care of yourself, if you haven’t had any significant injuries recently, and you’re healthy.
“It is true that I would like to return to La Liga, and I believe Adrian has a lot of time left.” It must be a pleasant, fascinating project.
“I haven’t sat down with Liverpool yet either,” Adrian continued. It is true that we will be keeping a close eye on what occurs in La Liga, but I don’t rule out the possibility that we are still in communication.”
Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara have contracts that expire at the end of the Liverpool season, and it is now anticipated that they will depart in the summer.
