Manchester City has just had an incredible season in which they won the Premier League for the fourth time in a row and made significant progress in both the FA Cup and the Champions League. Even yet, the blue and white team’s lineup is expected to change significantly for the upcoming campaign due to the reported departures of top custodian Ederson and star midfielder Bernardo Silva. Manchester City will turn to RB Leipzig for some reinforcements for the second consecutive year.
Dani Olmo is of interest to Manchester City.
Sport Witness has reported that Manchester City is interested in signing RB Leipzig attacker Dani Olmo, who is 26 years old. The winger is coming off a tremendous season for the red and blue, playing in 21 games (12 starts), scoring four goals, and grabbing six assists.
Olmo is reportedly only interested in leaving the Red Bulls for an exciting opportunity—something the blue and white could surely deliver—and his €60 million ($76.5 million) release clause expires on July 15.
Manchester City will give the 26-year-old the financial resources to sign Olmo and enable him to contend for several big championships each year. Another thing going for the blue and white is that Joško Gvardiol is reported to be good friends with Olmo, and the two still stay in touch from their days as the Red Bulls.
Furthermore, the Spaniard would remain reasonably close to his native country if he relocated to England. Olmo has reportedly expressed interest in playing in Spain and going back to FC Barcelona, where he attended the junior system for seven years. However, given the club’s financial struggles, it is unlikely that this will happen anytime soon.
Why it would make sense to recruit Olmo
Manchester City will require assistance in the attacking midfield sections of the pitch as Silva is ready to go. Though the 28-year-old had dropped out of the starting 11 by year’s end and might be moved out as well, Jack Grealish could eventually take over. Olmo would give manager Pep Guardiola an adaptable player who can play a variety of positions and infuse offensive into an assault that might not have as many possibilities coming from the attacking midfield in the upcoming campaign.
