After being strongly linked during the January transfer window, Arsenal’s chances of acquiring Everton midfielder Amadou Onana this summer have significantly increased.
Since moving from Lille to the Toffees in the summer of 2022, the 22-year-old has been a vital member of the team. He made 37 appearances in all competitions last season and scored three goals.
As far as football.london is aware, Arsenal looked at signing Onana during the January transfer window. Additionally, there were rumours of “intensive” negotiations about a potential deal between the two clubs.
Given Everton’s stance ahead of the summer transfer window, it appears that talks may now resume. Onana is one of Everton’s most prized assets, according to HITC, and the Toffees are willing to deal with him in the summer for a value above £50 million.
The club may be forced into sales this summer due to their financial concerns and the uncertainties surrounding a takeover. Onana is reportedly one of the guys they could let go of.
He declared, “Mikel wants his six to play entirely different from his eight.” “It feels strange to me, but I’m learning. Recently, when I’ve played, I’ve been higher up the pitch on occasion.
“I’ve built my career on playing the position that suits me best, which is six, but when Mikel tells me he wants me to play eight, I can’t wait to get up on the pitch, score goals and drive with the ball. Fortunately, I can play both, but I can still get better at both.”
As the team looks to contend for the Premier League title once more in the 2024–2025 season, Arteta will be eager to bolster his roster during the summer transfer window.
