The Premier League has been expressing a lot of interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, with Chelsea and Arsenal being strongly mentioned as potential suitors when the summer transfer window opens.
For a number of months, Arsenal has been searching for a new striker; names like Sesko, Joshua Zirkzee, Viktor Gyokeres, and Alexander Isak have all been connected to moves to the Emirates.
This summer, Chelsea is also expected to undergo a significant transition as new manager Enzo Maresca prepares to put his mark on fresh hires at Stamford Bridge. The west London club is apparently hoping to add a new striker, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen on the list of potential prospects. However, a new center-back and goalkeeper have reportedly been promised as priorities.
The Slovenian international Sesko is also expected to transfer, and he recently received encouragement to choose SW6 over N7 as Chelsea custodian Djorde Petrovic addressed the reports pertaining to his team’s potential trade for the 22-year-old.
Regarding the RB Leipzig player who has contributed 20 goals this season across all competitions, the Serbian custodian remarked in an interview with Nogomania: “I know and have been following him.” He’s scoring goals at a really decent rate and is enjoying his half-season. I’ve read that he has scored in each of the previous seven games. He seemed to have picked up a lot of speed ahead of the Euros. He is a forward with all the tools a contemporary player should have. He is tall, powerful, quick, and wise.
“I’ve seen a few of his games. He can play in the Premier League, of course. Of course! He’s been demonstrating his enormous potential in recent months.
But if Chelsea hopes to sign the player, whose release clause has risen from £42 million to £55 million over the course of the season, they will have to move quickly. Enzo Maresca will need to move quickly if Sesko is to be his first signing at SW6. The Daily Telegraph recently reported that Mikel Arteta’s team was in “pole position” to sign the Slovenian, and there have been earlier rumours that Newcastle and Manchester United have also had their sights set on the star.
