Even though it seems like a lifetime ago, the Manchester United team finished the season strong by winning the FA Cup at Wembley last Saturday.
It concluded Erik ten Hag and his team’s rather dismal season, which saw them finish ninth in the league.
In spite of this, a few of players ended the season with substantially bigger stocks than they had at the start.
This is true for players with outstanding playing careers, such as Rasmus Hojlund, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, and Alejandro Garnacho.
One of them has received a lot of praise for his playing style.
Theo Walcott acknowledges his unwavering admiration for Alejandro Garnacho.
While talking about the FA Cup final on this week’s Planet Premier League, Theo Walcott singled out Alejandro Garnacho, a graduate of the Manchester United academy, as a standout.
“It was the epitome of counterattacking,” Walcott said.
Since I really believe in players that can create something out of nothing and make runs in behind, I’m really in love with both of the wingers, Garnacho and Rashford in particular. He always asks defenders questions, in my observation.
“I believe he is not one-dimensional and enjoys taking a stance on both sides. Should you not, you will consistently come across as too predictable. You have to adjust your strategy, and I believe that he is one guy who has done so. He is greatly benefiting from having more game time.
Being a winger myself, I’m a huge supporter of the fact that this generation of wingers is different. He has a little bit of both the modern and the old school, which I appreciate. It’s a very nice balance.
Finally, Walcott offered a prediction about the winger’s future that won’t be particularly interesting to United supporters.
“They should hold on to him because he will most likely end up at Madrid at some point.”
At Manchester United, Alejandro Garnacho has earned his position.
According to Walcott, Garnacho is a legitimate starter for Ten Hag because of his wide range of skills and talents.
It’s undeniable that Garnacho should start the 2024–2025 season despite Marcus Rashford’s competition, which speaks volumes about how exceptional the Argentine’s ascent has been thus far.
Garnacho will have even higher expectations for the upcoming season after contributing 15 goals last year, and he may easily break 20 with better finishing, which should come naturally with progress.
Rashford now has the responsibility of proving himself in the competition for that spot and earning a spot back on the team, but we don’t see this happening anytime soon.
