Tosin Adarabioyo, a defender for Fulham, has declined a new contract, and Chelsea is closing in on him. This could allow Trevoh Chalobah to join Manchester United.
Tosin Adarabioyo is on the verge of joining Chelsea as their first summer acquisition, a move that would allow homegrown talent Trevoh Chalobah to sign with Manchester United.
Center-back Tosin was eager for a fresh challenge, therefore he declined Fulham’s offer of a new contract. And after fruitful negotiations, the 26-year-old is now expected to choose Chelsea despite Newcastle’s strong desire.
Despite concerns about profit and sustainability regulations, the Blues are moving forward with bolstering a team that placed sixth in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino. They are expected to officially announce the hiring of Enzo Maresca as their new head coach in the coming days. A five-year contract is being offered.
After veteran Thiago Silva left the team, Tosin will increase their defense options, but it further raises questions about Chalobah’s future at Stamford Bridge. The academy graduate has been connected to United, and Chelsea would view his signing as a pure business move as they look to increase their summertime purchasing budget.
Tosin, who rose through the ranks at Manchester City, played for Fulham for four years before turning down the opportunity to stay longer under head coach Marco Silva. Although there will be fierce competition, he will probably start for Chelsea.
Four more seasoned center defenders, including the French duo of Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, and the injured Wesley Fofana, as well as another homegrown talent in Levi Colwill, will be in Maresca’s roster.
Alfie Gilchrist showed promise in several of his appearances, and if he were to be sold, he would be a pure financial gain for the academy.
But it appears Chalobah will most likely leave. The twenty-four-year-old has had three loan stints since joining Chelsea at the age of eight. Due to a serious hamstring injury, he missed the first half of the 2023–24 season, but he still contributed significantly to a squad that had a successful season finale.
Although he is well-liked at Chelsea and has four more years left on his contract, he is more likely to go than stay because United is among the teams who are interested in him.
Conor Gallagher, an England midfielder, is a fan favorite, but Chelsea is also considering offers for him for the same financial reasons. He is nearing the end of his contract and has been linked to Tottenham, a rival team in London.
