Leroy Sané believes Vincent Kompany, his former teammate at Manchester City, can lead Bayern Munich to success.
Last week, Bayern Munich’s announcement of Vincent Kompany as their new head coach startled the whole football world. In the upcoming season, the Belgian will aim to spearhead the Bavarians’ pursuit of the Bundesliga crown following a dismal season with Burnley in the English Premier League. Leroy Sané is eager to collaborate with the 38-year-old as well.
Sané told Kicker (via iMiaSanMia) that “he was an absolute leader with an impeccable character who always led the way [at Manchester City].” “He gave us young players excellent care and encouragement. In addition, he has a lot of ambition. With all these attributes, he may be an extremely successful coach. I have complete faith in him to perform well at FC Bayern.”
Four years after joining Bayern Munich and leaving Manchester City, the winger will be back with Kompany. The two enjoyed a close bond while playing together in England, and it is hoped that with Kompany taking over as head coach, Sané will be able to find his form again following a lacklustre second half of the just finished campaign.
It will be intriguing to observe what kind of influence one of the best young coaches in the world, Vincent Kompany, has at Bayern Munich. He played with Hamburger SV for two years before joining Manchester City in 2008, thus he has some Bundesliga experience previously. He will play in the DFB-Pokal first round matchup against SSV Ulm for his official Bayern debut.
