After reaching an agreement on a five-year deal that will pay the forward €15 million ($16.2 million) annually after taxes, Real Madrid is expected to make the announcement that Kylian Mbappé has joined the team, sources have told ESPN.
Over the course of his contract, Mbappé, who is leaving Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, will also get a signing bonus worth €150 million.
Mbappé, 25, is anticipated to be unveiled at the Bernabéu once his time with the national team at the European Championship this summer comes to an end. He is currently serving on international service with France.
During France’s training camp, Mbappé seemed to confirm that the move will be made public by the Spanish team on Monday night in an interview with French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to insiders, Mbappé has already acquired a residence in Madrid. He bought the home of former Madrid player Gareth Bale in the upscale La Finca neighbourhood outside of the city.
Madrid has long had Mbappé as one of their top targets; he nearly joined them when he left Monaco in 2017 and again in 2022, but ultimately decided to stay at PSG.
After defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Wembley on Saturday, Madrid achieved a Champions League and La Liga double. This was their 15th European Cup victory. Despite winning Ligue 1, Mbappé’s PSG was ousted in the semifinals of the Champions League.
